Volunteering with Blue Missions the summer before was so rewarding that Mila and Gredel volunteered again, this time for sanitation project. Mila also recruited some friends to join them on this service trip. They traveled to Dominican Republic during the summer with a group that included participants from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy, Gulliver, Columbus, St Brendan and Palmetto to build 14 latrines. While the experience and labor was different, the end result was equally rewarding. If it wasn’t for Blue Missions staff, volunteers, sponsors and donors, these projects would not be possible. The families that received latrines were very appreciative, otherwise they would not have facilities for life’s basic functions.
